grievances
There are two types of grievances at BCC: those that fall within the negotiated contract and those that do not fall within the contract. Those that fall outside of the contract are called "non-contractual grievances" and you should consult the college policy and procedure manuals for the methodolgy for filing those grievances.
For a contractual grievance - a grievance where you believe the college has not lived up to its part of the contract, you need to contact your grievance representative on your campus. Your grievance representative will discuss with you the merits of your case and will advise you as to whether or not you have a strong enough case to fill a grievance. If so, you need to know that if the union feels the college has violated the contract, it will vigorously defend the contract. However, it will also insist you do your part in that defense. The most critical part of any grievance is to follow the timelines. That holds true for both contractual and non-contractual grievances. You may find the contractual grievance form in the downloadable contract.
